Creative collaboration celebrating success in the town.

Global business set for expansion as two Burton friends find their unique creative flair a draw for the town – having to take on extra staff to meet demand.

Davies and Scothorn, which was created by local lads Blair Davies and Gavin Scothorn, is a global design collective based in the Hodges building on Horninglow Street.

With over 30 years of experience in the industry working with large corporations including Shell, the pair, who are now taking on additional staff to meet with demand, are keen to help businesses create the brand, website and marketing which will make them stand out from the crowd.

Offering a full consultancy service, the team has been working with businesses including Hardy Signs, Trent and Dove and Gibson Tech, in Repton, which makes engines for Le Mans Cars, to offer big brand thinking to revolutionise their communications, websites and marketing.

With revenue doubling year on year since opening in 2015 the pair have now taken on an extra graphic designer and are looking to further extend their workforce this year to meet with demand.

Blair Davies, managing director, said: “When we set up Davies and Scothorn I don’t think we were quite prepared for where the journey would take us.

“As a company we have grown quickly but for us it has always been about the people. Creating those images and materials which really capture a business and make that individual or team stand out.

“It has been great to be so well received with in the town and to be able to now take on additional staff. As a business we would love to see further jobs created over the coming year as we continue to foster strong links and develop our base in the town.”

Davies and Scothorn, which prides itself on supporting the local community, is keen to help a local charity each year and this year will support the Love Inspire Foundation which works to prevent families finding themselves in crisis.

In the last few months they have taken on two new staff including 24-year-old graphic designer Ryan Tranter and business growth expert Richard Lloyd who has joined the team as a director.

Richard’s appointment means the business can further extend its reach offering ongoing business support to continue to help businesses get the maximum results from investment.

There are also plans for the team to be at the forefront of creating the designers of the future by supporting students and graduates in the town.

“It is an exciting time for Davies and Scothorn as we continue to grow year on year,” said Blair. “We are proud to be working with so many great businesses in the town and this year we not only want to develop more opportunities for employment but also help use our expertise to provide opportunities to students looking to widen their experience.”

Davies and Scothorn has a team of 11 designers, developers and photographers around the globe and work with everything from design, brand, strategy, digital and web design to social media, SEO and photography.
